What you'll learn in this basic portuguese class:By the end of the course, students will be able to express themselves in daily situations, work environment, restaurants and shops, as well as talk about events in the present, past events and trips, and plans for the future.
Course requirements: Students must have taken Basic Portuguese Level 1 and have command of the Present Indicative and Immediate Future.
Methodology: In our communicative method, classes are 60% conversation and 40% grammar. The course will rely on a textbook, handouts and exercises supplemented with music to emphasize certain points and distinctions. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to practice their Portuguese in 6 to 8 of our organized cultural and social Brazilian events each month.
Evaluation: Students will be evaluated on their ability to express themselves in the various tenses described above as well as the vocabulary learned in class. There will be a written and an oral final evaluation.
Finding the Right Level:
As students progress from Beginner to Intermediate to Advanced levels, their progress is noticeable in communicating with native Portuguese speakers. Each level has 10 classes as defined below. At the end of each complete level, students who qualify receive a Certificate of Completion.

We teach all levels from Beginner to Advanced:
• Beginner classes have 3 levels: 30 Classes
• Intermediate classes have 3 levels: 30 Classes
• Advanced classes have 3 levels: 30 Classes
Refund & Cancellation PolicyAll classes are scheduled in packages of a 10-session minimum. Before reaching the last session, many students decide to continue in the next level class. In case you booked a package and for any reason, after one class, you cannot continue, then we will charge for the first class and return the remaining amount by check. After the first class, there is no refund available. We will charge 10% administrative fee for refund or returned checks. We can put classes on hold for up to 6 months. We realize that situations occur that unexpectedly alter our plans. However, you need to alert our teachers as soon as possible to these changes so they can plan accordingly.
If you need to change your class schedule or cancel a class, you must notify us by email at [email protected] no later than 5:00 pm on the business day before a scheduled class. If a class is scheduled on Monday, notice must be received by 5 pm the preceding Friday. Any cancellation or schedule change made after that time will be deducted from your account.
If you miss three or more consecutive classes, we will discuss holding the class on a different day or time to better accommodate your schedule.
Semi-private classes: If you need to change your class schedule or cancel a class, and yet your classmate attends the class, then the missed class will be deducted from your account. When you and your classmate agree to change a class schedule (permanently or temporarily) or you both need to cancel a class, we need to be notified by email BY ALL STUDENTS at [email protected] no later than 5:00 pm on the business day before a scheduled class. Any cancellation or schedule changes made after that time will be deducted from your account. A replacement class may be with a different teacher will be scheduled only after receiving a notification by email from all students.
Group classes: There is no make-up schedule for group classes. If there were any handouts, the teacher can provide them for you in the next class.
