This course was taught by a lovely, friendly, knowledgeable woman. We appreciated her honesty, feedback and knowledge of cooking and food. She was a great teacher, and we enjoyed learning from her. The school is small, with a maximum of 10 students in a class. This allows it to be intimate, so you get to know the people you're spending the next 3 hours with, and that adds to the interest and fun. Most importantly, the food we cooked was wholesome and delicious, and we now feel like we are able to make something gourmet easily at home. We would most certainly return for another class, though cost is a determining factor in when that will be. Cooking class is a bit pricy, for sure!

The instructor was very informative and approachable. I had the opportunity to hone my knife skill. I just wish the class was more hands on regarding other cooking techniques, but this is most likely a result of limited resources. Otherwise, this is a good starter class.

A lot of fun. Sorry I was late.

Attended: Homemade Cocktails & Hors d'Oeuvres

My wife and I really enjoyed the course we took (Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres). We arrived ridiculously late and we missed out on making some of the hors d'oeuvres. The rest of the group still let us eat so I was okay with being late. Susan was our chef/teacher. She was terrific. She clearly explained what she was doing, showed us how to do certain things before letting us do them on our own, and also showed me easy ways to cut things. After dinner, she took time to talk to us about cooking, different restaurants, and courses we may want to take. We also got along well with the rest of the participants. I think the relaxed vibe of class greatly contributed to getting along with everyone. Overall a fantastic couple of hours. Ramesh

Attended: Fresh Pasta Workshop

Erica is a great and enthusiastic teacher. The experience was very hands on and I will be surely making better pasta now!

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

I spent this class learning things I'd never known before. I didn't even know how to hold a knife, didn't understand the importance of seasoning, or how to even tell a pan is hot. I took a bunch of notes and will practice everything I learned in that class. I had a wonderful experience and plan to take more at this cooking school.

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

Fantastic course w/an amazing instructor. We are about to book another!

Attended: How to Cook Fish

Loved the course---- John the teacher was terrific! The class members were eager to participate. A great experience Thank you

Attended: How to Cook Fish

John was terrific, very thorough and easy to work with. It was a nice group of people and small enough to that you could ask as many questions and get detailed answers. The food we prepared was great. I will take another class with John. Only negative is the space which is not as professional looking as ICE or some others but the personality of the chef and his desire to teach us and watch us individually made it a wonderful experience.

Attended: Introduction to Indian Cooking

Great fun, good atmosphere, great teacher, time is a bit late but I highly recommend this course.

Attended: Introduction to Indian Cooking

John was great. We got there late which is not a good thing and he was exceptionally gracious about it. The set up for a first timer was perfect. Small group, comfortable environment. We participated in the chopping and had a great discussion about the different spices. We finished the evening with an absolutely delicious meal. Thanks John !!

Great instructor! Clean space.

Attended: Introduction to Indian Cooking

This class was wonderful! Jennifer made everything so easy to understand - the next night I actually replicated one of the recipes perfectly and was shocked at how I put all of my new skills to use!

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

I had a great time, and I learned a lot as well. I'll definitely be looking for other classes from Home Cooking.

Attended: How to Cook Fish

Great class! Jennifer did a great job explaining concepts and techniques, sharing tips, and teaching us delicious recipes. Will definitely attend another one of her classes again.

Attended: Northern Italian Classics

Phenomenal experience! Learned some valuable essentials about cooking Italian food that we will take home with us and start using right away. Chef John is experienced, knowledgeable, very animated, and loves to get everyone involved with the cooking process. The kitchen is very well suited for a small sized group and is clean and modern. Would gladly do this again!

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

I had fun with this course. The class was very small (just 5 people), which was nice for questions and if you are looking to meet new people. The company recently moved into the facility, so they are still getting used to the space, but we had everything we needed during our class and created a delicious dinner! The course covered basic chopping skills, simple home-cooking techniques and recipes to replicate. The teacher was very knowledgeable. I felt like I learned a lot, and I have taken cooking classes before.

Attended: Romantic Dinner for Two

My boyfriend and I had a great time at this class. John is super knowledgeable and made cooking less intimidating (I am not a great cook!) The food was delicious and it was nice chatting with the other people in the class. Definitely bring a bottle of wine to sip on while cooking. The space is nice, really clean. Would definitely take another class like this again!

Attended: Romantic Dinner for Two

John was great! We loved the course and he was the nicest guy as well. He is a gem. thank you John for putting on the course despite the storm! Caroline & Jeff

Attended: How to Cook Fish

Yummy course. Four very good seafood recipes and terrific tips from the chef-instructor. Hands-on class. Excellent value.

Attended: French Bistro

Overall the class was enjoyable. It's bit too pricey considering the ingredients and portions. A few kitchen hygiene rules were broken too.

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

I had a great time last night at Six Basic Cooking Techniques. John was a fun instructor and took the time to answer any question, no matter how basic or tangential. Even with all of this conversation, the class never felt rushed. I definitely feel like I understand more of the basics of cooking (how to properly chop and roast vegetables, how to pan sear meat) and got an amazing meal out of it as well Seriously, the steak was divine. And I've been introduced to fennel!

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

Love the teacher/chef. Very informative. Great class for a beginner. And the meal was super delicious.

Attended: Truly 20 Minute Dinners

Really fun course! Small enough group, so you get to meet other people and chat. The four meals we made were all very good and it was fun being able to eat them after. Our instructor was friendly and informative. I know that we all learned at least a few general cooking tips - both beginners and advanced cookers learned something. Would definitely recommend.

Attended: French Bistro

Class was great -- meal was delicious -- people were nice. HOWEVER, CourseHorse listed the start time at 7 p.m., but the school provided a start time of 6 p.m. CONFUSION. I showed up at 6:20 thinking the first hour was for socializing, but, NO, I was late. Next time I'll sign up directly at the school site.

Attended: Summer Farmer's Market Tour and Class

It was informative and I don't regret doing it. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon; however, it wasn't quite worth the money. We didn't really cook as much as I thought we would, mostly prep work. The money spent on the the food wasn't much considering the price of the class. It was basically the same amount we paid for the class and looking around at the 10 people there it felt very low if you took two seconds to do the math and figure out what she was making off of us. On top of that, she brought her mom, her daughter and her brother who we also fed with the money we paid to attend the class / budget put aside to spend on food at the market. They were lovely people but it felt a little excessive. The teacher was also a bit aggressive. It made me uncomfortable towards the end. I probably would never take a class she taught again just based on her method of teaching. I will say I thought it was organized relatively well.

Attended: Tasting Tour of Chinatown

Hi, the course was great and the guide wonderful. I would just suggest adding a bit more info about the area, ie historical facts or architectural info. I realize it is a tasting class, but it would add a bit more substance to it.

Attended: Tasting Tour of Chinatown

It's a bit expensive, but a good day out.

Attended: Southern Brunch

Fun, Delicious food!

Attended: French Bistro Favorites

French Bistro Favorites at Home Cooking NY was a great class. The instructor, John, was very clear and explained what he was doing and why he was doing it very well. He was very patient with everyone in the class and always asked for and answered questions. The kitchen space we were in was incredibly nice and there was sufficient room for 10 of us around the work area. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend classes there.

Attended: The Baking Basics

I took this course with my 16 year old daughter. It was great. There were 2 other older teens in the group, and the instructor made sure to engage them right at the start. The rest of the group were mixed ages 20+ to 50+. Women and men. Nice group. I am a better cook than baker, so I really enjoyed this class and got a lot out of it, so did my daughter. I felt we made excellent use of the entire time there, making 4 different desserts. The instructor gave us ideas of how to turn the sweet desserts into savory appetizers. I used several ideas for baking the following weekend for Easter, which received 5 stars from my guests. :) The facility was comfortable and roomy. There were 12 in the group and we had plenty of room to work. I highly recommend.

Attended: The Baking Basics

Fantastic workshop, very knowledgeable and friendly class tutor, lovely and comfortable setting and many helpful baking tips given. Great value for money and would highly recommend to others. Just a great workshop to have been a part of!

Attended: Good Food: What to Eat & Where to Shop

The course was great! I learned a lot and would recommend the class to a friend. Jennifer Clair is really knowledgeable, friendly, and altogether a great instructor. I'd like to consider taking one of their cooking classes in the future.

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

Great class for beginners. Learned a lot about searing steak, sauteing, & an intro to knife skills.

Attended: How to Cook Fish

The course was very interesting and the food delicious!!!! Perfect combination for a cooking class!!

Attended: A Taste of Greece

This is the second course I've taken with Carl and he is great. While I enjoyed the course tremendously I wasn't as fussed about the menu as I was when I took the Thai class. But that's just personal preference. Food aside, the course was fun and I learned how to cut up a whole chicken which was worth it alone. The Taste at Home Courses are held in a gorgeous loft style apt in Chelsea. Also- you are free to bring a bottle of wine and drink while cooking if that is your thing. After cooking you sit down to an enjoy a pretty huge meal and everything is top notch quality.

Attended: Understanding Thai Food

I loved Understanding Thai Food. Carl is a fun and fabulous teacher. He he puts everything in context of a bigger picture- whether it's sharing a tidbit on the history/ geography or comparing how an ingredient is used differently depending on the country. I walked away with better knife skills and great tips that apply to cooking overall. The Taste at Home Courses are held in a gorgeous loft style apt in Chelsea. Also- you are free to bring a bottle of wine and drink while cooking if that is your thing. The whole experience inspired me to want to do even more cooking a home (which I already love to do.) At first I thought the price was a little high but after taking the course I realized what a great value it actually is. After cooking you sit down to an enjoy a pretty huge meal and everything is top notch quality. Definitely recommend!

Attended: French Bistro Favorites

I would recommend this course to those just starting to learn how to cook. It was a good, very basic lesson from an instructor that's worked in commercial kitchens. The food was very tasty though and I'll make several of his dishes again. My biggest disappointment was that he did not make one of the dishes that was advertised - the potato and fennel gratin which I was looking forward to. The space was nice and filled with light with room for the 11 of us taking the class.

Attended: Quick & Ridiculously Delicious Suppers

John was awesome! He made sure we were all comfortable, understood what was happening and had a good time. The space was also great!

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

Perfect class for all home cooks! Jennifer taught the class in a fun and approachable manner, teaching basics of knife skills and cooking techniques that can be used beyond the dishes we made in class. Great time!

Attended: Six Basic Cooking Techniques

The course was great and went real we'll. We enjoyed the content and the presenter.

Attended: How to Cook Fish

This class was awesome, more fun and tasty than I expected. The Chef did a great job with hands on participation. The class was well organized and informative. I recommend this class to everyone.

Attended: How to Cook Fish

I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a night out with their significant other. The chef was great and the food we cooked was even better. Me and my fiance` loved this class and learned a lot of good tips when cooking. Bring a bottle of wine, relax, cook, eat and learn, doesn't get any better.

Attended: French Bistro Favorites

Home Cooking NY and the instructor Jennifer offer an excellent, compact yet rich class that teaches the fundamentals of French cooking. Not only was the space comfortable and the information good, it was taught by a professional who is knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive. The meal we made was delicious. I would definitely recommend this class to others and look forward to taking another one soon!

Attended: Quick & Ridiculously Delicious Suppers

This course was very informative and organized, especially with so many dishes to be cooked. I was impressed. I would recommend this course to anyone.

Attended: Learning the Basics: Part I

I would recommend this because I enjoyed the group of people I met and the instructors were engaging and passionate in their teaching. The recipes were also very tasty! However if you are looking for direct instruction on the absolute basics of cooking than this may not be for you. If you miss a class, the instructor is more than happy to email you the recipes/notes from that week which is helpful.
